How to Have an Un-productive Morning

How to Have an Un-productive Morning

How many of us reach for our phones the second we wake up?… And I’m not talking about turning off an alarm app.

As soon as we grab our phones (unless we have some serious do not disturb, notification settings, and a Gospel focused home screen) we are going to be pulled into a thousand different directions.
A work email that stresses us out, a financial push notification that causes anxiety, or social media that forces us to compare ourselves and spin us into a headspace of discontentment.
My challenge to you would be to go buy a super cheap alarm if you use an alarm app (you can find one on amazon for literally a penny plus shipping). This way you don’t have to rely on your phone for an alarm.
Then find a place outside your bedroom to charge your phone and leave it there when you go to bed.
Here comes the challenging part… when you wake up don’t pick it up for the first 1-2 hours of the morning.
This is going to cause you not to jump into work, email, text messages, group messages you missed the night before, social media, etc.
Our hope is that you would instead spend the first hours of the morning diving into your spiritual disciplines.
Spend time in scripture, praying, journaling, doing a bible study, spending time with the Lord.
Spend time with your kids, without a screen in front of your face, or just sit and enjoy your coffee or tea and be thankful for the blessings God has given you.
As always we hope you have a Gospel focused productive week!
